BROWNSVILLE, Texas (Jan. 16, 2020) – Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, chairman of the Texas Border Coalition (TBC), today praised ratification of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) by the U.S. House and Senate:
“The Texas Border Coalition is gratified to see the House and Senate come together and pass this historic agreement to modernize trade between the U.S., Mexico and Canada. The USMCA provides for clear, straight-forward rules of trade between our countries and ensures that all businesses – especially small- to medium-sized businesses – have the opportunity to participate in the economic benefits of free trade.
“Texas needs 21st Century trade policies that help our economy grow and prosper. This modernized trade agreement builds on the integrated supply chains that link U.S. manufacturers with their counterparts throughout North America and reduces barriers to trade.
“In passing the USMCA, members of Congress have chosen to seize the opportunity to enable greater economic growth by making trade more efficient. We urge President Trump to sign the agreement without delay.
