Texas Secretary of State Carlos Cascos to Keynote

TBC Quarterly Meeting in Pharr

Texas Secretary of State Carolos Cascos will give the keynote speech at the Texas Border Coalition’s (TBC) Quarterly Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 11, in Pharr.

Secretary Cascos, who served eight years as Cameron County judge, will talk about border affairs and economic develeopment. The luncheon will begin at 12 p.m. in the conference room at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 300 W. Nolana Loop.

Secretary Casoco’s speech also will be streamed live beginning at 12 p.m. on Pharr Live, the city’s public access channel: http://pharr.life.

Representatives from dozens of communities along the Texas-Mexico border are expected to attend the meeting and engage in frank discussions about the myriad economic development, education, health care, security, transportation and workforce challenges facing border communities.

Later in the evening, from 6 to 7 p.m., TBC members will gather at McAllen City Hall, 1300 W. Houston Ave., for a panel discussion about the opportunities that come with regional cooperation between border cities, counties and economic development interests. The event, which is co-sponsored by Futuro McAllen, is open to the media.
